ZODIAC® - Simplus Packer Valve Assembly (PVA)

What is it ?

The two primary functions of any intelligent completion, is the isolation and control of each zone that requires to be managed. In certain circumstances a simple and cost effective means of providing both of these requirements can be sufficient to transform the economics associated with what were once considered marginal wells. The Simplus PVA has been designed to provide both the isolation and control within one tool while at the same time accommodating bypass for control line communication for similar devices further down-hole.

The device is very simple in design, hence cost effective and can be retrieved by straight pull if required.

The Simplus PVA is positioned in the completion string at the points where isolation is required down-hole. For each zone that requires to be isolated, a similar Simplus PVA would be attached at the respective point in the completion string.

The Simplus PVA is designed to accommodate six control line bypass ports. These ports allow control line communication to the Simplus devices positioned below. The device is not fitted with slips and as a consequence would be required to run in conjunction with a packer or hanger in applications where considerable tubing movement is anticipated or excessive pressure differentials are expected.

When would I use it ?

Simplus PVA can be used in different applications where flow control is deemed beneficial:

• Full control of a oil or gas producing interval without the need for intervention
• Full control over water injection into designated zones without the need for intervention
• Where a cost effective Intelligent Well Solution is required
