Tubing Mounted Sand Excluder

What is it ?

The Red Spider Sand Excluder System is designed for use in Coiled Tubing (CT) deployed Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) completions. When running this type of completion there is always the potential for sand to fall out as produced fluid exits the discharge head, any sand is then free to settle around the lower pump assembly making future retrieval on CT very difficult. The Sand Excluder System is designed to prevent sand fallout from building up and therefore greatly enhances the chances of future retrieval operations using the existing CT attached to the Motor connector assembly.

The device is simply installed at surface during the pump/motor make up and is positioned directly below the standard Discharge Head. The Sand Excluder also has the facility to allow control lines (for ESP multi-sensor, chemical injection or safety valve) to bypass. Once installed it is run in and out of the well along with the pump/motor BHA.

When would I use it ?

The Sand Excluder would be run in applications where:

• A cost effective solution to sand and debris pack-off in CT deployed ESP completions is required
• A custom solution is required to suit various pump / motor sizes and types
• Differing elastomer options are required to suit specific well parameters
• An exclusion system is required for a range of different casing sizes and weights
