Tubing Mounted Reservoir Isolation System

What is it ?

The Red Spider Reservoir Isolation System (RIS) is intended for use in ESP completion where a means of isolating the well bore to prevent fluid loss is required in conjunction with chemical injection.

The system would be run as part of a lower completion along with a feed through packer and is remotely activated from the surface via hydraulic control lines.

The system would be hydraulically set in the casing and the communication path to the lower well isolated hence providing a means of fluid loss and a testable barrier in the well. The upper completion complete with ESP would then be run and stabbed into the upper section of the RIS connecting the hydraulic activation and chemical injection lines.

The device can now be opened and closed at will from surface and chemicals injected to prevent scale build up. The chemical injection point is located below the fluid loss mechanism hence ensuring that any areas which maybe susceptible to scale build up are continually washed with chemical inhibitors.

In the event of a workover, the system can be closed and left in situ while the upper completion and ESP are retrieved from the well hence preventing fluid loss to the formation but also providing a testable barrier for well control.

When would I use it ?

The Reservoir Isolation System is used in situations where:

• A fluid loss barrier is required in the well when running and retrieving an upper completion
• A chemical injection point is required below the sealing point
