Chemical Injection Sub

What is it ?

The Red Spider Chemical Injection Sub (CIS) is a tubing deployed device used as a means of introducing chemicals pumped from surface into the well-bore in a safe and controlled manner. Having a one piece main body design, the tool uses metal to metal sealing throughout.

Assemblies can be supplied for up to four lines should large volumes be required or in situations where the avoidance of premature mixing of chemicals is required. In addition, assemblies can be supplied with by-pass slots and protective clamps to enable additional lines to pass the outer body without damage.

To allow the lines to be run with pressure applied during running of the completion, the CIS incorporates a one shot shear out plug. Inline check valves prevent well pressure from returning back up the control line. An over-ride facility within the design enables injection to continue in the event that the check valves become blocked and injection rates are restricted.

When would I use it ?

• In situations where a chemical injection point is required in the completion for scale, wax or corrosion inhibition.
• Where a large volume of chemical injection is required
• In situations where cable / line by-pass is required past the device
• In applications where metal to metal sealing is necessary
