eRED
Our Technology...
The eRED reduces the number of wireline runs because it can be programmed to repeatedly open and close either automatically or by remote command.
What is it ?
Typically integrated into the plugging assembly, the eRED provides a highly flexible and controllable downhole barrier allowing a multitude of tasks to be performed without the need for additional intervention.
For example:
Using eRED as a deep set barrier: The eRED is deployed in the open position on a lock or bridge plug, and is programmed to close after a time delay. The eRED can be reopened after a further time delay or by transmitting its open command through the well fluid, or by a combination of both. The well can now flow as normal and the eRED retrieved off-line, if required.
With integrated, programmable electronics and sensors, an eRED monitors and responds to the actual downhole conditions, opening and closing as per predetermined instructions that are transmitted by applying tubing pressure over a user-defined time span.
Onboard data analysis, allows an eRED to distinguish its own commands from other external factors such as hydrostatic or reservoir pressure. This enables an eRED to operate as required even if the downhole conditions are changing unexpectedly.
When would I use it ?
We believe that eRED can change the way you work. On-board electronics give the eRED its flexibility. Right up until the eRED is deployed downhole, instructions and command parameters can be changed and downloaded from a laptop using proprietary eRIC software. This means that eRED can quickly accommodate any changes to the planned operation onsite.
The inherent flexibility of a programmable control system, allows eRED to substantially simplify and reduce intervention operations. Changes to operational criteria can easily be accommodated onsite, and future upgrades can be incorporated into the logic as the need arises.
The eRED is primarily designed for use in the following applications, although the flexibility of the design means that the eRED can be used in a multitude of other applications:
- Shallow set for tree testing and change out
- Deep set for packer setting and tubing testing
- Zonal isolation
- Completion deployment and packer setting
- Completion deployment and TCP gun firing
- Extended reach or horizontal wells where retrieval of carrying device may prove problematic
- Pressure testing of well prior to fracing or stimulation operations being carried out
- In situations where the tubing test pressure should not be exceeded in order to open the equalising device
- Draw down isolation tool
- Isolation and opening of multi-lateral legs
